Privacy Policy

This Policy applies to all MicroPython websites accessed under the micropython.org domain name. These sites are administered by George Robotics Ltd (UK) and George Robotics Pty Ltd (AU).

1. Personal information that is collect and processed

In order to operate and do business there is certain personal information that we collect, process and store:

  1. Web browsing – When you browse any of our websites we automatically receive your computer's internet protocol (IP) address. We make this address anonymous so it cannot be traced back to you, and store it in our web server logs for debugging and analytics purposes. We do not use any third-party service for analytics.
  2. Newsletter – If you explicitly sign-up to receive our newsletter we will collect your email address. We may use this email address to send you newsletter emails including information about new products, offers and other updates regarding MicroPython related software and hardware. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at anytime. Your email address is never shared with a third party.
  3. Store purchases – When you purchase something from our store (found at store.micropython.org) we collect the personal information that you explicitly give us such as your name, email address and shipping address. This information is used to send you email confirmations and notifications about your purchase, as well as to ship you your order. The information is retained offline for seven years for accounting purposes.

2. Legal basis for collection and processing

Our legal basis for processing your data in order to send your our newsletter is that you have consented to our doing so by explicitly providing your email address and then responding to the email confirmation.

Our legal basis for processing your personal details for an order is that you have consented by explicitly making a purchase, and the processing is in our legitimate interest to enable us to sell our products to you.

3. Third party data processors

All our website financial transactions are handled through our payment services provider, Stripe. When making a purchase in our store you will need to provide certain information directly to Stripe. We share your email address with Stripe just before you make a payment so they can identify you. We do not collect any credit card information from you.

Our shipping partners are ESG Workstation (DE) and they are responsible for shipping your order to you. In order to ship your order we must share your name, email and shipping address with them.

4. Cookies

A cookie consists of information sent by a web server (us) to a web browser (you), and stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server (from you to us) each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser.

We use "session" cookies only on the store website. They are integral to providing the online shopping service: the session cookies keep track of you whilst you navigate the store to remember what is in your cart.

If you do not want to use cookies then you are unable to make purchases on the store website. Instead, send us an email with your order.

5. Disclosure

We may disclose information about you:

  1. to the extent that we are required to do so by law;
  2. in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings;
  3. to establish, exercise or defend our legal right; and
  4. to the purchaser (or prospective purchaser) of any business or asset which we are (or are contemplating) selling.

Except as provided in this Privacy Policy, we will not provide your information to third parties.

6. Security of data

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss or misuse of personal information. We will store all personal information you provide on our secure servers.

7. Policy amendments

We may update this policy from time-to-time by posting a new version on our website.

8. Third party websites

The website contains links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third party websites.

9. Your rights

At any time you may ask us to provide you with the personal information we hold about you. At any time you may ask us to update any of your personal information, or ask to withdraw your consent for us to hold and use your personal information for marketing purposes. We will respond to your request as soon as it is practical to do so.
